Guardião Condenado e Aspecto de Juiblex (Doom Guard and Aspect of Juiblex)

When I started this project earlier this year I would never say that eight months will be needed to accomplish it. Actually I had no idea that I would take all this time researching, carving, cutting, tracing, gluing, painting, a true full workshop of activities to create this set, that takes my nick on it.

But today, the last two creatures will show up and the work is completed.

Next week I will present all the pieces together, I'm still working on how to do this, what kind of scenery, etc.. But this discussion is for next week.

Now we go to the presentation of the last two parts.

Starting with the Doom Guard. I will say that whenever I think of RPG adventures and I think in the cursed Ravenloft terrible places, I always remember about an adventure right whith my table companions, where they found themselves facing a dozen animated armor in the middle of a huge room surrounded by deadly trapped pillars. Those armor actually,  Doom Guardians from old Second Edition, was quite an adventure.

When I started collecting DDM miniatures, i´ve see that the Dread Guard and helmed horror miniatures were closer than I thought at the time to be a Doom Guard. But something was not good enough. They were fully formed. If one asks and if you do no tell, no one would ever know that creature was a construct. The truth is that these creatures have parts of their bodies empty, swords floating in the air lifted by invisible arms and Helms without face.

And it was just a Doom Guard I decided to create, using many leftovers from the miniatures i had used before and a few more cuts to a new ones needed to add something extra.

To create the Guardian, four miniatures were needed: a human fighter, a half-orc paladin, a mercikiller and Mercenary Sergent. As I also added a cape of a WoW miniature WoW, you can actually put five on the count.

How I wanted to give a "ghostly look" to the creature, I invested only in parts of armor. Used as the basis for the body i took the Mercenary Sergent body, pulling his arms, his shield and helm out. After adding the floating parts.

The first part was the shield of the Half-Orc Paladin. Before you apply it was necessary to remove the entire base of the arm of the original creature. After, positioning the shield so that it is supported with a tip of his shell on the floor and another on the shoulder.

The second part was the handle of the sword.

It had to be a long sword, and the best miniature I have with this weapon was a human fighter. Here the cut is easy. Just a straight cut on the wrist of the creature. To give the impression of the arm raised in the air alone, again I made a small application of super glue at the sword in a small connection with the supporting shield. Positioning is crucial, to people understand that the person's arm is in the air without any link with the body, but still part of the same.

A próxima etapa que segue é o adendo do elmo. O melhor elmo é o do Mercikiller.

The next step following is the addendum to the helmet. The best helmet is from Mercikiller. Mainly because the miniature has a large head and you can withdraw your core making cuts in X.

E eis a criatura concluída.

The last detail was the addition of the cape. Although unnecessary, it is helpful to aesthetics, since it hide the open cuts on the body and the arm that was the shield of the half-orc. For these empty parts I painted with silver. And here's the complete creature.

The last creature is an Aspect of Demonlord. Or avatar.

Juiblex, always had a certain Awe on me. Totally amorphous, always ignored by all other demon princes, he architect plans patiently and calmly.

The faceless lord, is well known, that is the father of all the slimy creatures, such as the gelatinous cube, Ochre Jelly and other crawling creatures and slimy. Has only one goal. Transform everything and everyone in a huge jelly.

To be honest these creatures always added a funny side on the adventures of D & D. Bestial and terrible beings with body mass off shitt. Imagine those scenes where the heroes are yelling: "Help, I'm being swallowed by the Black Pudding!" or better yet "It's a goo crawling up my leg."

Sempre renderam boas risadas.

We always get good laughs of that. And because of that always fascinated me. And their "god", a Machiavellian creature utterly without form was then the subject of my latest creation. The first thing I had to take into account that Juiblex not have shape and does not usually send any aspect of itself to any type of mission he wants to accomplish. Instead he normally controls the form of one of their "protected" and fully controls by adding various powers.

But true to be told, to find one aspect of Juiblex in the form of an ocher goo would have no grace. Therefore I decided that would create a whole new way for the creature. With the base form a black pudding.

To accomplish the feat, i took many minatures as shown below. A aboleth, ciclops Hewer, a gibbering mouth, an ocher jelly and a stormsword djinn.

Aspect of Juiblex was extremely complex to accomplish. The base form of the body is formed by the bottom part from Stormsword Djinn. After due painting turns into a great black pudding, or any other big goo you want.

The images below were made before I start the process of painting. And they show that the positions created to form Aspect of Juiblex. As you can see the Ochre Jelly and the gibbering were used entirely as to constitute the creature. Since the Aboleth I just needed the tentacles which truly give a great touch to the creature. Finally only the head of the Cyclops needed to bind between the body parts of the gibbering mouth.

With all placements concluded, all glued with super glue and after drying started repainting the creature, which became completed as follows:

Na próxima semana posto todas as miniaturas, o set list completo e algumas informações extras.

And with these last two creatures is finally completed my set. Next week i´ll put all the miniatures togheter, the full set list and some extra information.
