Chillreaver, Escolhido de Tiamat (Chillreaver, Choosen of Tiamat)

Chillreaver é um dos vilões principais por trás de uma das sagas mais bacanas publicadas da revista Dungeon. Na sequência introdutória a 4e, na época a revista lançou várias aventuras que faziam parte de uma grande campanha onde os heróis partiam do primeiro nivel e galgavam niveis épicos. Este conjunto de aventuras faziam parte da camapanha conhecida como Escalas da Guerra (Scales of War). A aventura Alliance at Neffelus para heróis paragons de nivel 14, trouxe como inimigo principal um Exarch de Tiamat muito incomum.

Chillreaver is one of the many villain behind one of the most interesting campaings publishig at Dungeon Magazine. At the time, to give an 4e introduction, a lot of many adventurers was given at many issues from Dugeon Magazine, on this adventures the heroes begin at first level and advance through epic levels. This adventures was either solo or as part of great campaing know as Scales of War. Alliacen at Neffelus was an adventure from this campaingn to level 14 heroes, tha have introduce a very uncomun enemy; an Exarch of Tiamat.


Um dragão branco enorme de duas cabeças conhecido como Chillreaver. A criatura trabalha para glória da dama negra, mas também tem interesse em transformar todas as terras em um local gelado e desolado.

And a real special one, a Huge two heades white dragon know as Chillreaver. The creature works for the Dark Queen glory, but has a cruel agenda, when it want to turn all lands in a total ice kingdoom.


A aventura é muito bem escrita, com uma trama bem interessante, mas o melhor de tudo é que ao apresentar Chillreaver, ela nos presenteia com um vilão sem precedentes, que pode ser perfeito para nossas campanhas e aventuras de RPGs.

The adventure and plots are well write, but i do not wish to talk about it. My interest was at Chillreaver. This adventure gift us with a magty unique villain, a perfect one to fit this role over our many adventures or RPG campaings.


Assim decidi que uma das criaturas do meu set de minis seria o dragão. Infelizmente meu set é de criaturas normais, e Chillreaver é huge. Por isso decidi fazer a miniatura da criatura sendo uma versão mais jovem do dragão.

I have real liked it, and this creature was one of the first to be quoted at my set minis list. Since the original creature is Huge, and my set is not, i have take the free will to make a younger version of this dragon.


A minha versão de miniatura apresenta Chillreaver ainda não sendo um exarch de Tiamat, mas sim trilhando o caminho de se tornar mais poderoso e grandioso.

My version shows a Chillreaver, searching the way to became an exarch and achieve power and grace from its goddess.


Chillreaver foi até agora a miniatura mais trabalhosa para fazer. Deve ter me custado mais de dois meses de tempo. As principais dificuldades se encontraram em moldar a miniatura da maneira que eu queria. Devo dizer que remoldei ele diversas vezes.

This miniature was the one who gave me a lot of work to do. It was more than 2 months. What have taken so much of my time, was the challenge i face to put it at the way i want. I must say that i remade this mini a lot of times. 

Para criar nossa sacerdotiza de Tiamat, eu tomei como base a miniatura do Large Red Dragon, mas da versão de Heroscape para sair mais barato. Minha primeira ação foi retirar o dragão de sua base e aplicar umas doses de tinta branca. O principal disto era ver se daria certo usar o corpo do dragão vermelho como base para um dragão branco. Eu fiquei satisfeito na ocasião.

To bring our cleric of Tiamat to "life", i have choose the Large Red Dragon miniature as a base. To diminish the cost i take the version from heroscape. The first thing i have done, was to take it off from its base then, apply some white ink. My objective at the time was to see, if the body will please me when i imagine it as white dragon. I have liked.


Iniciei um processo então para remodelar a criatura, eu queria dar um aspecto ao dragão de estar alçando vôo, para isso usei o precesso de mergulhar a miniatura em água quente e depois de molda-la resfria-la.

After it, i start the work of reshape the creature. I want to give the dragon a pose of flying. To do this i take the process of put the mini in hot water, then reshape, then put it at cold water.

Originalmente eu queria muito ter trabalhado a cauda do dragão de forma diferente, mas não deu certo. Ela sempre retornou a posição original, inclusive uma vez deixei ela prensada por uma semana na posição que eu queria, não deu um dia e ela voltou. Foi realmente muito frustrante.

At first i want to make the tail a litle different from the final position, but really dont work. She´s always come back to the original posicition, one time i have let the reshape 1 week at the position i want with some tools help, but still not work. Was really frustrating.


Após ter sido vencido pela cauda, resolvi dar outro aspecto a criatura e passei a ignroar sua posição, ao invés disto comecei a imaginar como eu poderia aproveitar aquela posição de uma outra maneira, mas ainda seguindo a idéia dela alçar vôo.

After have been beating by tail, i decided to give another aspedt to the creature, then i start to ignore the position i want first, instead i started to imagine how can i use this one in another way that still will resamble the idea of flying.
Eu acabei encontrando uma posição que me agradou. Na sequência recriei as cabeças do dragão. Tive que tirar um grande naco de partes do dragão vermelho original para refazer da maneira que queria. Para a segunda cabeça eu precisa de um pescoço adequado, escolhi do do Large Black Dragon também com molde de Heroscape.

I endend finding something that has pleased me. On the sequences i start the work on the dragons head. I has to work a real hard on red dragon head, specially to make it fit at the position i want. The second head must have somekind of move, and to do it i have choosen the Large Black Dragon head also from Heroscape. This has turned this creature more cheap than it will be with original ddm minis.

De posse das duas cabeças, retirei os chifres e todas as referencias que me lembrassem das miniaturas antigas e iniciei o processo aplicando a cabeça do red dragon, no pescoço principal.

With the two heads on had, i remove the horns and all old reference from its original minis, and started the process to apply the first head on the neck.

Para fixar as duas cabeças eu perfurei os corpos e coloquei arames. Após a fixação da cabeça do dragão vermelho já em pose de vôo inicieis os cortes em "V" para encaixar a cabeça do negro no espaço previamente calculado.

To fix the two heads i has puctured the bodys and put wires on it. After i have glue the red dragon head at the position i want to resemble the flying and then i initiate the "V" cut on black dragons neck to fit an prewious space reserved to it, on the main body.

Com as duas cabeças já fixadas e o corpo principal já pré-pintado, reiniciei o processo de pintura para deixá-la mais próximo do que queria.

With the work on heads done, and almost all prepainted, i start a third paint process to let it more closely at the creature i want.

Com a pintura seguindo seu curso definitivo, segui para as fases finais de acabamento. Primeiro a substituição dos olhos pelas ondas de energia que emanam da criatura. Para representar isto, simplesmente consegui pequenos cristais azuis que retirei da ainda sobra do Blazing Skeleton e fiz várias pequenas montagens que eu particularmente gostei muito.


After making the paint job i begin the stage of completion. First i start doing the "energy eyes". To do that, i simply get some litle cristals from the remains of a Blazing Skeleton from Ravenloft game and start cutting a lot of litle fragments to fullfill the objetive.


Com os efeitos de energia dos olhos concluidos, faltava agora colocar meu dragão em posição de vôo. Inicialmente eu pensei que apenas posicionando ele pela cauda daria certo, mas foi um erro. O corpo era muito pesado e não funcionava. Tive que procurar alternativas. A maior dificuldade é que eu não queria que se perdesse a identificação do vôo. Achei então uma destas pedras brancas de jardim com o formato e a posição perfeita. Consegui adaptar ela de forma q o dragão estivesse tocando ela com uma de suas mãos enquanto voava por cima da formação rochosa. A pedra funcionaria como apoio e ficou perfeita nos testes preliminares.

As soon i finish with the eyes effect, i start to think in how i´ll put my dragon to fly. At first i was thinking in simply fix the creature by the tail, but again it was a mistake. The body was too heavy and was not going well. I need to start looking for alternatives. The greates ones, is that i do not wish to loose the flying reference. Then i has found something that i has liked. Some white garden stones has pleased me. They has the shape i want, and have real nice poses. I was able to adapt it so that it can hold the dragon, in a tiny place, it hand. It gives to the mini the impression that the dragon was touching somethings as he flyes over it. The stone works perfectly at the test i have made it.

Com a posição escolhida, e a maioria dos retoques concluidos tive então apenas dois trabalhos excedentes. Fiz com que as asas ficassem mais abertas e posicionei a miniatura sobre uma base nova. Escolhi uma tampa de garrafa de iogurte (pode ser qualquer uma compativel com o formato redondo de ddm). Pintei de preto, fiz a base de acordo e adicionei neve e rochas e posicionei como queria que ficasse e conclui o trabalho.

With the pose work finish and with most of the litle works done, i has only more phase afront. First i reshape the wings again, i oponed it more, to give a impression of real flyinght, and finally i need to put it on a new base. I choose a bottle cap  yougurtt (can be anyone  with the oficial ddm format). Paint on black, make the base with the proper fits, i added more rocks, paint it to take a frozen look and finish the job.

Chillreaver foi a miniatura que mais deu trabalho para fazer. Ao mesmo tempo em que foi frustrante ser vencido pelas etapas que eu não conseguia fazer, era gratificante demais ver como a peça ia se moldando conforme eu ia vencendo as dificuldades.

Chillreaver was a real challenge miniature. At the same time it give me so many frustration it give me so many please when i endend a process that will make it real.
Esta miniatura ficou única em todos os sentidos. No trabalho que deu, nas minis usadas, na dificuldade de se fazer ela, nas frustrações que se seguiram a desenvolver ela, e não parou nas esculturas. O processo de fotografar também me irritou, pois eu não consegui mostrar nas fotos a real beleza da miniatura. De todo modo segue a apresentação de Chillreaver, Sacerdote de Tiamat e algumas curiosidades sobre a miniatura.

I must say that this mini is unique in lot of ways. Has give me a lot of work, a lot of frustration, an intense difficult, and all of this do not stop on the sculpt. To make this creature pictures was real something that turn me upset, cause i simply has not find the correct angle to show the real beaty of this mini. Anyway as always now i present you the Chillreaver, priest of Tiamat, and some curiositys about it.

1) Chillreaver teve mais de 2 meses de trabalho.

1) Chillreaver has consumed more than 2 months of work on it.


2) O processo de modelagem da miniatura foi muito frustrante.

2) The reshape process was real frustrating.


3) Chillreaver é formado por duas miniaturas: Large Red Dragon e Large Black Dragon. Sugiro a se você quiser fazer o processo adquirir estas miniaturas entre as disponiveis de Heroscape.

3) Chillreaver need to miniatures to be realized: Large Red Dragon and Large Black Dragon. I must say that you need to get this from Heroscape, if you want to do this, cause it is more cheaper than the ddm ones.
4) Eu repintei a miniatura pelo menos umas 6x. Sempre procurando o tom mais correto e tentando evitar que ela ficasse monotona.

4) I have repainted at last 6 times. Always looking to make it look less boring.
5) Chillreaver tem estas medidas: 75 mm de altura, 84mm de envergadura e 70mm de profundidade. Sem contar a base feita com a tampa de iogurte.
